Jobs and Skills

This site is produced by the Department of Training and Workforce Development and aims to provide access to comprehensive information and guidance about career services for all Western Australian’s.

This website has been designed to be as accessible to as many users as possible, including:

  • people with disabilities who may use assistive technologies;
  • those with slower internet connections or less than state of the art equipment;
  • rural and regional users; and
  • those with non-PC internet devices including hand held devices and mobile phones.

As of 1 July 2010, the Public Sector Commission requests that all Western Australian Government websites comply with the updated Website Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) developed by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C).

This compliance ensures access to users with disabilities including blindness and low vision, deafness and hearing loss, learning disabilities, cognitive limitations, limited movement, speech disabilities, photosensitivity and combinations of these.

The minimum mandatory level of compliance for both existing and new Western Australian Government websites is now WCAG 2.0 Level A. The Public Sector Commission recommends that agencies aim to achieve WCAG 2.0 Level AA.

Through audits of the Department of Training and Workforce Development’s websites, the Department will identify accessibility issues and will undertake appropriate and timely measures to ensure compliance with WCAG 2.0 Level A standards. The Department is currently working towards achieving the recommended Level AA.

The accessibility features available on this site include:

  • Functionality for increasing or decreasing the text size for the site (available in the top right hand side of the screen on each page)
  • Descriptive text for images (ALT text) that can be read by assistive technologies
  • High contrast colour scheme that assists users with visual impairments
  • Use of lightweight images / design to decrease load times
