Frameworks and initiatives

The following frameworks and initiatives all aim to support career development and transition for young people.

  • is a gateway to information on Australian Government Indigenous initiatives and programs.
  • The Indigenous Youth Leadership program supports a number of Indigenous students, particularly those from remote areas of the country, to attend high performing secondary schools (government and non government, day and boarding) to complete year 12 or universities to complete an undergraduate degree. More information can be found in the Programs section.
  • Professional Standards for Career Development Practitioners were developed by the Career Industry Council of Australia (CICA). These standards apply to any person belonging to a CICA member association who provides career development services/programs.
  • Victorian Careers Curriculum Framework is a scaffold for a career education program for years 7 to 12 and supports the work of teachers, trainers and career practitioners in preparing young people to make successful transitions into future education, training or employment.
  • The Youth Attainment and Transitions (YAT) national partnership aims to increase the educational engagement and attainment of young people and improve their transition to post school education, training and employment. It comprises the Youth Connections program; the School Business Community Partnership Brokers program; initiatives to maximise engagement, attainment and successful transitions; a Compact with Young Australians; and a range of national career development initiatives.
