How we can help

How we can help

We are currently working to establish a network of TAFE Jobs and Skills Centres throughout Western Australia. As we complete this work, career services may be provided by Jobs and Skills Centres, Career Centres or Aboriginal Workforce Development Centres.

These services provide free and independent training information and career guidance. They can assist with information on education and training courses, career pathway options and the career planning process.

Visit the Jobs and Skills Centres page for information about the range of services available or call 13 64 64 to speak with your local service.

Specialist services for people from culturally and linguistically diverse background

We offer services and activities designed to assist people from a culturally and linguistically diverse background at any point throughout their life to make educational, training and work choices.

As well as providing information on training and opportunities to use existing skills or learn new or additional skills, we also work with you to overcome barriers to employment, education and training. We can help with:

  • a screening process to establish your needs;
  • information on training options and the labour market;
  • developing realistic, achievable career action plans including work experience, voluntary work and other opportunities;
  • computer assisted career guidance, including tools to improve labour market research skills; and
  • workshops on career options and employability skills, including basic occupational safety and health.

Services are available from 9.00 am to 4.30pm Monday to Friday at:

4 Brewer Place, Mirrabooka

Phone: (08) 9344 2468; or

Unit 13, 64-66 Kent Street Cannington

Phone: (08) 9258 5188

Appointments via phone or Skype can be arranged for eligible clients across WA.

These services are delivered by Mercycare through a program funded by the Department of Training and Workforce Development.

Specialist services for ex-offenders

When you're released from prison, finding a steady job or getting your career back on track can make a big difference in getting your life moving in a positive direction. We offer a one-day career development course while you're in prison which covers aspects such as:

  • employability skills;
  • interview techniques;
  • self-image;
  • coping with unemployment;
  • disclosing convictions; and
  • how to access employment services within the community.

We also offer services that provide practical support to ex-offenders throughout their job search journey. We can help with:

  • advice on choosing a career path
  • information on training or education options;
  • a resource room with a computer, printer and internet that you can use; and
  • writing your resume and job application and preparing for job interviews

There is also a specialist program for Aboriginal ex-offenders to support effective transition from prison to reconnection with their community and culture.

Services are available from 9.30am to 4.30pm Monday to Friday at 27 Moore St, East Perth or phone (08) 6263 8622.

These services are delivered by Outcare through a program funded by the Department of Training and Workforce Development.
